Annual Meetings

The BHC will hold its 2018 annual meeting at the Baltimore Embassy Suites Inner Harbor in Maryland. The theme of the meeting is "Money, Finance, and Capital," and the Call for Papers has been officially released. Paper and panel proposals are due October 2, 2017.

2019 BHC Meeting

cartagena.jpgThe 2019 annual meeting of the Business History Conference will take place at the Hilton Cartagena. More details will be provided shortly.

2017 BHC Meeting

"Civilizations" is the theme of the 2017 meeting of the Business History Conference, which will take place at the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown (make reservations here). 

The program committee consists of Susie Pak (chair), Eric Hilt, Caitlin Rosenthal, Lars Heide, Jessica Burch, and Walter Friedman (BHC president).

2016 BHC Meeting

The 2016 Business History Conference Annual Meeting was held in Portland, Oregon, on March 31-April 2, 2016. The theme of the meeting was "Reinterpretation." The program committee for 2016 consisted of Rowena Olegario (Chair), Peter Coclanis, Marcelo Bucheli, Julia Yongue, and Margaret Graham (BHC President). 2015 BHC-EBHA Meeting

The 2015 joint meeting of the Business History Conference and the European Business History Association will be held in Miami, Florida, on June 24-27.

2014 BHC Meeting

The 2014 Program Committee consisted of: Ed Balleisen, Duke University (chair); Chris McKenna, University of Oxford; Andrea Schneider, Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte (Society for Business History) (Germany); Per Hansen, Copenhagen Business School (BHC President), and Jan-Otmar Hesse, Universität Bielefeld. Local arrangements in Frankfurt were provided by the Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte.

2013 BHC Meeting

The BHC program committee for 2013 consisted of Kolleen Guy (chair), University of Texas, San Antonio; Morris Bian, Auburn University; Julia Ott, The New School; Susie Pak, St. John's University;and Kenneth Lipartito (BHC President), Florida International University. Local arrangements were in the care of William Childs and Joseph Arena, both of the Ohio State University.

2012 BHC Meeting

The BHC program committee for 2012 consisted of David Weiman (chair), Barnard College; Michele Alacevich, Columbia University; David Freund, University of Maryland; Elisabeth Koll, Harvard Business School; and Margaret Levenstein (BHC President), University of Michigan. Local arrangements will be chaired by Daniel Raff, the Wharton School, with Wendy Woloson, the Library Company of Philadelphia, and Michelle Craig McDonald, Stockton College.

2011 BHC Meeting

The members of the program committee for the 2011 meeting were Mark R. Wilson (chair), Teresa da Silva Lopes, Matthias Kipping, Jocelyn Wills, and Richard R. John (BHC President). The members of the local arrangements committee were Matthew Sherman (chair), David B. Robertson, and Jeffrey T. Manuel.

2010 BHC Meeting

The program committee was: Jeff Fear (chair), University of Redlands; Sally Clarke, University of Texas; Tracey Deutsch, University of Minnesota; Robert Weems, University of Missouri; Shane Hamilton, University of Georgia; and Steven Tolliday (BHC President-elect), University of Leeds.

The 2007 annual meeting of the Business History Conference (BHC) took place Friday and Saturday June 1-2 in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University.

2000 BHC Meeting

"ENTERPRISE IN SOCIETY" - MARCH 10-12, 2000
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE BUSINESS HISTORY CONFERENCE

To celebrate the launching of its new journal, Enterprise & Society: The International Journal of Business History, the Business History Conference will organize its next meeting around the theme "Enterprise in Society." This conference will meet from March 10 to 12, 2000, in Palo Alto, California.

1998 BHC Meeting

The 1998 BHC will be held March 13-15 at College Park, Maryland.  Hosting will be the University of Maryland and Archives II; Friday afternoon and Sunday morning sessions will take place at the University of Maryland conference center, and all Saturday sessions will be held at Archives II. Papers are invited on any topic of business history, but the theme of the meeting will be  "The Business of Government and the Government of Business" so papers that emphasize issues broadly related to that topic will be particularly welcome.

1997 BHC Meeting

The 1997 meeting will be held in Glasgow, Scotland.   This will be the first time the conference has met outside  North America, and will be held jointly with the Association of British Historians and the Business Archives Council of the UK.
